Scope of Works:
Breight Group was engaged by BHP to replace sections of the C222 Conveyor and its associated walkways at the Leinster site. The project involved several key stages, including the fabrication and preassembly of new conveyor sections with walkways, the installation of temporary support works, and the complete replacement of the conveyor belt system.
The first step involved fabricating the necessary conveyor sections and walkways, which were preassembled to ensure seamless installation during the shutdown. Temporary support structures were installed to facilitate the safe removal of the existing conveyor and walkway systems. The conveyor belt was isolated and removed to make way for the new conveyor, with filters installed during the process to ensure operational efficiency.
Once the new conveyor sections were in place, the team proceeded to weld the conveyor stringers, followed by non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure the integrity of the welds. After this, the grating was installed and securely fastened to the newly welded sections. Once all components were in place and thoroughly checked, the temporary works were removed, and the area was restored to full operational functionality.
The entire project was completed on time, with no incidents, demonstrating Breight Group’s commitment to delivering high-quality services in line with BHP’s safety and operational standards.
